Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Father Paul Makar, and I am the Vocations Director of the Ukrainian Catholic Archeparchy of Philadelphia, and Pastor of St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Cherry Hill, NJ. As part of our effort to boost knowledge of the Ukrainian Catholic Church and to sow the seeds of the Gospel of Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, I am pleased to announce the opening of a new blog, "THE ORIGINAL MEN-IN-BLACK", as part of our new effort to reach out and educate people on vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, monastic life, and also on modes of secular living. But this is not just about vocations; it is also a blog explaining what the Ukrainian Catholic Church is all about. We intend to educate you about the beauty of our Church and our way of worship as an integral part of the "Eastern Lung" of the Catholic Church. We also want to show the relevance of our Holy Church to people of all stripes and backgrounds in today's day and age. We are still working hard to finish our website up, and will soon be revamping our facebook page as well. Given the ambition and scope of this project, we are chipping away at many needed things little by little, but God be good, we will get to where we need to be.
In the midst of preparing for vacation, helping two seminarians get ready to start formation at St. Josaphat's Seminary in Washington, DC, lining up contract work at the parish, as well as prepare for the activities of Fall (including the upcoming Papal Visit in Philadelphia, PA, clergy retreat, all-Eparchial clergy conference in Chicago, etc., etc., ad infinitum), I am amazed at how reliant I am on God to get me through all this. This is no stoic surrender to mere chance - rather, given the scope of tasks that are required to be done, I find that prayer and humble listening to God's voice in the cacophany of life's daily grind is absolutely essential to discerning what needs to be done and also finding out where God is calling me where He needs me to be. Hence, here I am, launching this new blog and website to help others find a voice and direction in the midst of a chaotic and turbulent world.
There is a lot more to come with this website and vocations effort, and God willing, we will soon come to completion in this effort. In the meantime, let me offer you a short video to contemplate God's majesty, especially within the context of the Ukrainian Catholic Church. Enjoy and may God bless you always!
Glory to Jesus Christ! Слава Ісусу Христу!
